Velma W. Rawlins

Velma Walton Rawlins, 86, of Lewiston, returned to her heavenly home Dec. 20,1995, at the Logan Regional Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born July 13,1909, in Auburn, Wyo., to William Wallace Foss Walton and Leah Hurd. She received her education in the Star Valley School system.

She married Owen Woodruff Rawlins, Dec. 6, 1933, in the Logan LDS Temple. She lived in Lewiston for 66 years. She was active in the LDS Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and was ward librarian in the 2nd Ward for 26 years. She was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was an avid genealogist. She was the Lewiston City librarian for more than 23 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her four children: Mr. and Mrs. LaVere W. Rawlins, Ogden, Vera Rawlins, Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Rex W. Rawlins, Soda Springs, J'Lene Rawlins, College Ward, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Dec. 23, at the Lewiston 2nd Ward, 10 S. 1600 West, under the direction of Bishop Max L. Richards. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main St., Smithfield, and from 10:30-11:30 am. at the church. Burial will be in the Lewiston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Transitional Care Unit at the Logan Regional Hospital.
